- Global Financial Crimes: AML Screening Professional / Associate
Description
We are seeking someone to join our team as a Global Financial Crimes (GFC): KYC - Client Risk Ranking, Negative News Screening Professional.
In the Legal & Compliance division, we assist the Firm in achieving its business objectives by facilitating and overseeing the Firm's management of legal, regulatory and franchise risk. This is an Associate level position within the KYC Controls team where you will assist with development and optimization of the KYC Controls program, including the Enterprise Customer Risk Ranking (ECRR) and Negative News & Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) screening to meet new or evolving regulatory requirements, industry best practices and Firm/GFC risk tolerances.

What you'll do in the role:
- Execute and improve client screening controls, with a focus on Adverse media (negative news) detection and PEP identification and classification
- Collaborate with compliance technology and data teams to optimize screening platforms including Fuzzy matching logic, entity resolution enhancements, alert suppression and logic tuning
- Contribute to the design and evaluation of machine learning models to enhance name matching and entity disambiguation, reduce false positives, prioritize high-risk screening hits
- Analyze alert trends and screening performance using SQL, Python, and BI tools (e.g., Tableau or Power BI).
- Support data quality, lineage, and governance initiatives to ensure ac-curate and auditable client screening inputs.
- Liaise with stakeholders and subject matter experts across regions and business units to gather feedback and requirements
- Stay up to date on regulatory developments related to financial crime screening such as ensuring models comply with global regulatory expectations such as those from FATF, FinCEN, OFAC, FCA, and other relevant authorities
- Directly perform data manipulation and other analysis on large datasets to support the development of solutions that derive insights from a variety of data sources connecting the dots on GFC risks facing the Firm (e.g. Client Reference data, Negative New screening, ECRR modeling)
- Analyze model output and identify opportunities for improvement in accuracy, precision, recall, and other key metrics
- Clearly document and communicate processes, findings, and improvements to present analysis results in Excel reports or PowerPoint presentations that are tailored to the stakeholders and tell a story
- Coordinate with Financial Crimes Technology (FCT) and other Legal and Compliance colleagues in addressing regulatory requests and questions from other departments within the Firm on the KYC Controls monitoring program
Requirements
What you'll bring to the role:
- 4+ years relevant work experience, with respect to AML screening controls of financial crimes within large financial institutions
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Science or a related field.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other data analysis tools.
- Experience with AML screening tools (e.g., Actimize, World-Check, LexisNexis, Dow Jones).
- Strong understanding of financial crime typologies, PEP risks, and adverse media monitoring.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., BSA, AMLD, FATF, OFAC, FinCEN) is a plus.
- Knowledge of System Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Familiar with Agile methodology including relevant productivity software such as Jive, Jira, and Tableau, and user stories writing
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple demands and changing priorities with a tight timeframe
- Experience with engaging stakeholders across compliance, technology, and the business
- Proven ability to take ideas forward and to challenge others with integrity and maturity
- Ability to identify, monitor, and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, and agree appropriate risk responses
- Technology savvy with ability to quickly learn new systems and tools, and to identify and implement enhancements
- Outstanding judgement, analytical skills, and critical thinking, including solid ability to analyze data to draw conclusions/themes and think strategically about presentation of materials
- Ability to work in a proactive and self-directed way with minimal oversight and task management
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Excel functions and PowerPoint, interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Strong and hands-on knowledge of databases, SQL, and structured data
Preferred Experience We're Looking for in You
- Bachelor/advanced degree in engineering, computer science, or a related science/data field
- Project Management Certification
- CAMS Certification
- Knowledge of Actimize
- Knowledge of semi-structured data formats, e.g. XML
- Experience with Python, Power Query, and RegEx
