Join the internal legal team of a major Japanese financial group as a Legal Officer supporting system planning and IT transformation. You'll provide legal guidance on high-value technology procurement and development projects, playing a critical role in ensuring contract integrity, compliance, and strategic alignment.
Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate IT development and procurement contracts, including cross-border agreements
• Provide legal support across large-scale tech projects in system planning
• Build and maintain contract governance frameworks for internal IT teams
• Conduct legal risk assessments and deliver training to system department staff
• Collaborate with global vendors, external counsel, and internal legal teams
• Monitor regulatory changes in tech law and communicate risk implications

Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:

• 3+ years of legal or contract management experience in-house or at a law firm
• Deep understanding of contracts related to IT procurement or system development
• Familiarity with Japanese and international contracting standards

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
• Logical, structured problem-solving with a proactive mindset

Language Requirements

• Japanese: Native fluency
• English: Intermediate to business level, especially for reading and drafting legal documents

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in financial institutions, system integrators, or tech vendors
• Legal or IT certifications such as Bengoshi, IT Passport, or Applied Information Technology Engineer
• Experience negotiating with overseas vendors or working within global governance frameworks
