A leading UK accountancy and advisory firm is recruiting a VAT Assistant Director for their Manchester office.

This senior role offers the opportunity to lead a varied and high-profile portfolio of clients across multiple sectors, with particular focus on Real Estate, Financial Services, and Technology & Media. You will provide strategic VAT advice, manage complex compliance projects, and build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Role:

• Managing a portfolio of VAT clients, providing expert advice on compliance, planning, and transactional matters.
• Reviewing work prepared by junior team members and providing technical guidance and mentorship.
• Liaising with HMRC and ensuring all assignments are completed accurately and on time.
• Identifying business development opportunities and supporting the growth of the VAT practice.
• Working closely with partners and directors on complex projects and strategic initiatives.

Experience:

• Strong UK VAT experience is essential, ideally gained within a large or mid-tier firm.
• Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements and senior stakeholder relationships.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
• Commercially minded with a proactive approach to identifying and delivering opportunities for clients.
• CTA qualified or equivalent preferred.
